Job Description:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Lead CNC Machinist to take a central role in the production of high-specification pump components. Based in Ilkeston, you will lead the setting and operating of both CNC lathes and milling machines in a one-piece flow manufacturing cell.

The Lead CNC Machinist will handle both castings and bar stock, working to tolerances of 0.01mm, while adjusting offsets and maintaining quality across the board. You’ll run multiple machines including advanced 5-axis and 3+2 milling setups and ensure that all production follows best practices and safety standards.

You’ll also support continuous improvement by identifying process enhancements, maintaining equipment, and ensuring setup documentation is complete and accurate.

 

Skills & Experience:

Essential:

  • Recognised apprenticeship or 5+ years of CNC machining experience
  • Strong hands-on ability in CNC Milling and Turning
  • Familiarity with Fanuc controls (training will be provided)
  • Skilled in using plug gauges, micrometres, and calipers
  • Comfortable reading complex engineering drawings (metric and imperial)
  • Able to manage tolerances as tight as 0.01mm
  • Capable of documenting production and quality metrics accurately

Desirable:

  • CMM measuring knowledge
  • Fanuc programming experience (advantageous but not essential)
