Position – Electrical Fitter

Location – Gateshead

Hourly Rate - £15.40 /  Overtime 1.5x for first 10 hours and 2x for any hours after

Shifts – Days

Responsibilities:

  • Assemble electrical components and wiring into sub-assembly or final assembly for materials handling products, including overhead cranes, offshore cranes, and rail-borne plant maintenance equipment.
  • Perform assembly work for both new builds and the repair/refurbishment of existing equipment.
  • Build control panels, including layout of panel components based on schematics.
  • Carry out work at remote sites or depots, including nuclear facilities, with the possibility of overnight stays.
  • Work shift patterns and overtime as required to meet project deadlines.
  • Comply with Health & Safety regulations, ensuring safe practices and adherence to local risk assessments/COSHH procedures.
  • Undertake any additional duties within your capabilities as directed by line management.

 

Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum time served or NVQ Level 3 Diploma in a relevant discipline or equivalent qualification.
  • 18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations certification. (Advantageous)
  • Valid CPCS card or the ability to obtain one.
  • Completion of necessary paperwork for security clearance to work at customer sites.
  • Willingness to undertake Personal Safety Passport Training and other required training.
  • Ideally, served a recognized apprenticeship with experience in electrical wiring/assembly in a medium to heavy engineering environment.
  • Ability to understand and work directly from schematic drawings.
  • Proficiency in using equipment and tools necessary for electrical assembly.
  • High degree of manual dexterity and physical fitness to work at a bench or in final assembly, possibly at height or in various climatic conditions.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 Quality Management and ISO 14001 Environmental Management systems.
  • Full valid driving license.
