Job Description:
As the Supplier Quality Engineer, you will take ownership of supplier quality performance, ensuring components and materials consistently meet the highest standards. Working closely with suppliers, internal teams and international operations, the Supplier Quality Engineer will play a key role in driving quality improvements across the supply chain.
Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting supplier assessments and quality audits.
- Managing supplier non-conformances and corrective actions (CAPA).
- Reviewing supplier documentation including PPAPs, FMEAs and Control Plans.
- Supporting contract reviews and quality planning activities including APQP and ITPs.
- Ensuring incoming materials comply with quality requirements.
- Monitoring supplier performance and developing supplier improvement plans.
- Supporting continuous improvement initiatives using Lean and Six Sigma principles.
- Producing supplier quality reports, maintaining quality records and vendor ratings.
- Collaborating with UK and international teams, including occasional overseas travel.
Skills & Experience:
The successful Supplier Quality Engineer will have:
- Previous experience within Supplier Quality or Quality Engineering in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of ISO 9001 and quality management systems.
- Experience with PPAP, FMEA, 8D, SPC and CAPA processes.
- Experience conducting supplier audits and managing supplier performance.
- HNC in Engineering, Quality or a related discipline (Degree desirable).
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt would be advantageous.
- Excellent communication, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Full UK Driving Licence and willingness to travel within the UK and internationally.
- Experience within heavy engineering, precision engineering or project-based manufacturing would be advantageous.
