The Company:
We’re working with an established logistics and freight organisation that supports customers across the UK and Europe. With a busy operation, strong customer relationships and opportunities for progression, they are now looking for an experienced Road Freight Operator to strengthen their Gateshead team.
The site offers free parking, excellent public transport links and hybrid working.
Working Hours:
Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 5:00pm

Job Description:
As Road Freight Operator, you’ll manage the day-to-day movement of UK and European road freight, acting as a key contact for customers, suppliers and overseas partners.
The Road Freight Operator will coordinate groupage, part-load and full-load consignments, managing shipments from initial booking through to delivery.
Responsibilities include:
- Planning UK and European import/export movements
- Managing customer bookings and tracking shipments
- Completing export customs declarations via CDS
- Producing quotations and following up with customers
- Liaising with hauliers, suppliers and overseas partners
- Preparing CMR documentation and checking costs
- Resolving operational issues and maintaining excellent customer service
Skills & experience:
To succeed as Road Freight Operator, you’ll ideally have at least one year’s European road freight experience alongside an understanding of customs processes and procedures.
You’ll also need strong organisational skills, attention to detail, good IT/Microsoft Office knowledge and confidence communicating with customers and suppliers.
