Job Title: Quality Control Technician
Location: North East England
Salary: £30,470.30 per annum + shift allowance (0% days, 20% back shift, 33% night shift)

Working Hours:

This Quality Control Technician role operates on a three-shift rotational basis (days, back shift, nights). Flexibility is essential, and overtime may be required to meet business needs.

Job Description:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Quality Control Technician to join a busy manufacturing environment. This is a permanent replacement role, with the current post holder leaving at the end of March, and the business is keen to appoint the right Quality Control Technician as soon as possible.

The Quality Control Technician will ensure all products consistently meet customer, regulatory, and internal quality standards. Acting as a key link between Production, Customer Quality, and Supplier Quality functions, the Quality Control Technician will provide rapid response to quality concerns and support robust in-process controls.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Investigating customer, internal, and supplier quality issues

  • Verifying corrective actions and implementing containment activities

  • Performing in-process inspection and part gauging

  • Conducting gauge calibration and measurement verification

  • Supporting and leading warranty investigations including data collection and reporting

  • Liaising daily with production teams and external stakeholders

  • Supporting continuous improvement across manufacturing processes

The Quality Control Technician will work independently, making sound, evidence-based decisions in a fast-moving production environment. Occasional travel to customer sites may be required.


Skills & Experience:

  • Experience within medium to high-volume manufacturing

  • Strong background in in-process quality controls and precision measurement (verniers, micrometers, gauges)

  • Experience working with customer and/or supplier quality functions

  • GCSE Grade C or above (or equivalent) in Maths, English, and a Technical/Science subject

  • Strong IT skills, particularly Excel and Word

Desirable:

  • HNC in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline

  • Experience with CMM or measuring arm equipment

  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 and IATF 16949

  • Internal auditing experience

You will be detail-focused, proactive, calm under pressure, and confident communicating across departments.
