Working Hours

In 2012, BEL Engineering was established as a project managed CNC machining business to cater for the growing demand for precision sub-contract machining in the UK and European markets. Operating from their secure, integrated manufacturing facility in Newcastle upon Tyne, they manufacture 3mm diameter to 50 tonne components for customers in a wide variety of sectors, including civil nuclear, defence, aerospace, marine and oil & gas.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and review quality records/document packs.
  • Compile and analyze inspection data to identify trends and establish countermeasures.
  • Process and review Material Review Board (MRB) cases and customer concessions.
  • Lead quality investigations and establish effective root cause corrective actions.
  • Conduct process capability studies such as PFMEA (Process Failure Mode Effect Analysis) and MSA (Measurement Systems Analysis).
  • Perform quality audits to identify non-compliance and opportunities for improvement.
  • Support operations with first-off processes and new product introductions.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 & AS9100 standards.
  • Plan and implement rework/rectification activities.
  • Distribute quality-related information throughout the business.

Skills & Experience Required

  • Previous experience as a Quality Engineer in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
  • Strong understanding of Quality Management Systems (QMS).
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 & AS9100 standards.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and inspection data.
  • Experience with quality improvement methodologies such as Six Sigma, PDCA, and 8D problem-solving.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills to liaise with internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Recognized engineering qualification (e.g., HNC, apprenticeship, or equivalent).
