An established precision engineering business is seeking a Quality Engineer following continued growth and new contract requirements. Supporting customers across a range of sectors, the business offers varied machining projects and technically interesting work.

This is an opportunity for a Quality Engineer to make a visible contribution to manufacturing quality, work with digital measurement technologies and develop professionally within an experienced engineering team.

Working Hours:
Monday to Thursday: 08:00–16:30
Friday: 07:00–13:00

Job Description:
As a Quality Engineer, you will work closely with quality and production colleagues, reporting to the Quality Manager and Head of Engineering. This is a practical, shop-floor role supporting inspection, quality documentation and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities include:

  • Conducting stage checks and final inspections of machined components using digital and manual measurement equipment.

  • Programming digital measurement equipment for batch inspections.

  • Identifying contract quality requirements and preparing manufacturing instructions and supporting documentation.

  • Recording non-conformances and producing NCR reports, 8D documentation and root cause analysis.

  • Investigating recurring defects and implementing processes to reduce errors.

  • Training colleagues and apprentices in measurement equipment, inspection methods and quality procedures.

The Quality Engineer will also support live production issues, helping teams resolve discrepancies and maintain accurate inspection standards.

Skills & experience:
The successful Quality Engineer will have:

  • Experience measuring machined parts using digital equipment and associated software.

  • Knowledge of CNC machining and the ability to interpret engineering drawings.

  • Experience preparing quality documentation, including inspection and test plans and NCR reports.

  • Strong attention to detail and a structured, organised approach.

  • Confidence identifying quality issues and managing several jobs.

  • A calm, proactive approach when working under pressure.

Previous CNC setting and operating experience, alongside CAD/CAM knowledge, would be advantageous.
