Job Description

 

As a Production Engineer, you’ll play a key role in introducing and managing press tooling and welded assembly processes from concept through to final production handover. You will coordinate external suppliers, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing the full lifecycle of press tooling and welded assembly projects.
  • Coordinating tooling suppliers, monitoring budgets, and ensuring project milestones are achieved.
  • Developing process documentation to support new product integration.
  • Optimising production methods to improve productivity, efficiency, and cost control.
  • Using CAD systems to analyse and refine tooling and fixture designs.
  • Leading process improvement initiatives and ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Conducting supplier audits and ensuring all processes adhere to quality standards.

The Production Engineer will be instrumental in driving best practice across manufacturing processes, ensuring operational excellence and supporting the company’s vision for innovation and continuous improvement.

 

Skills & Experience

 

To be successful as a Production Engineer, you should demonstrate:

  • Proven experience in press tooling or welded assembly processes, ideally within automotive manufacturing.
  • A thorough understanding of press tool or welding fixture design.
  • Strong background in process development, lean manufacturing, and continuous improvement.
  • Competency in CAD and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively across multi-functional teams.
  • HND or Degree in an Engineering discipline (Engineering apprenticeship desirable).
  • Knowledge of PUWER 98 and Health & Safety compliance requirements.
