We’re working with a well-established precision engineering firm that specialises in subcontract manufacturing of high-volume, precision machined components. The company has invested in state-of-the-art machinery, is expanding rapidly, and serves clients across sectors such as oil & gas, medical, subsea, and general engineering. Job Description:

As a Production Engineer , you will support the core production operations from process planning through to execution and continuous improvement. In your role, you will:

  • Prepare jobs for production through tooling, process planning, and pre-production readiness .
  • Generate and optimise CAM programmes (milling and turning) and ensure setup standards are maintained .
  • Implement and maintain tooling, fixtures, jigs, and workholding strategies .
  • Assist in resolving issues on the shop floor related to tooling, setup, or machining programmes .
  • Create and manage BOMs, routings, and related documentation in the ERP/MRP system .
  • Collaborate with machinists, operations, quality, and maintenance to ensure smooth handover and production flow .
  • Analyse existing processes for improvements, waste reduction, and cycle time optimisation .
  • Drive continuous improvement projects and support efficiency initiatives .

 

Skills & Experience:

  • Previous experience as a Production Engineer or in CNC machining / process engineering .
  • Competency in CAM programming (preferably Fusion 360) .
  • Solid understanding of machining processes, tooling, fixtures, jigs, and workholding .
  • Experience working with ERP/MRP systems .
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with great attention to detail .
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to liaise across multidisciplinary teams .
  • A proactive, organised mindset with a drive for continuous improvement .
  • Bonus: experience with 5-axis machining or automation design for batch manufacture .
