The Company:

We’re working with a well-established engineering client known for offering world-class fabrication services across the marine and renewable energy sectors. With one of the largest commercial dry-docks on the East Coast and access to deep water berths, this facility is built to handle everything from simple repairs to complex fabrication projects.

The site includes a modern fabrication setup with advanced equipment such as panel lines, rolling systems, and both plasma and gas burning machines. Extensive storage and load-out capacity, along with fully equipped workshops, means the business is capable of managing a wide variety of projects efficiently and effectively.

 

 

Job Description:

We are currently recruiting for experienced Platers to join a busy fabrication workshop in Hebburn. As a Plater, you will be responsible for marking out, cutting, shaping, and assembling heavy steel components, often working from detailed engineering drawings. Your work will directly contribute to large-scale marine and industrial fabrication projects.

 

Skills & Experience:

  • Previous experience as a Plater within heavy industry, ideally marine or structural
  • Competent in reading and interpreting complex fabrication drawings
  • Experience working with heavy-gauge mild steel (3-50mm)
  • Skilled in marking out, oxy-fuel cutting, grinding, and fitting
  • Ability to work collaboratively with welders and other trades
  • Must be time-served or able to demonstrate equivalent practical experience
