Job Title: Pipe Fitter
Location: Gateshead
Salary: Up to 38k
Shifts: Day shift (Early finish Friday)

Job Description:

As a Pipe Fitter, you will be responsible for maintaining and installing plant pipe systems across a busy industrial site. You’ll carry out both planned maintenance and reactive repairs, ensuring all systems operate efficiently and safely.

Your key responsibilities as a Pipe Fitter will include:

  • Maintaining and repairing pipe systems and associated mechanical equipment.
  • Supporting maintenance technicians and apprentices within the team.
  • Carrying out preventive maintenance (PM) and responding to work orders.
  • Reading, interpreting, and modifying pipe drawings and schematics.
  • Identifying, isolating, and removing redundant or faulty pipework.
  • Collaborating with production and engineering teams to minimise downtime.
  • Ensuring all work meets safety and quality standards.
  • Attending maintenance meetings and maintaining accurate shift handover notes.

This Pipe Fitter role will suit a proactive professional who enjoys problem-solving, teamwork, and working in a hands-on environment.

 

Skills & Experience:

To be successful as a Pipe Fitter, you will ideally have:

  • Proven experience in industrial or plant pipe fitting.
  • The ability to read and modify technical pipe drawings.
  • Knowledge of maintenance excellence techniques (RCFA, Kaizen, etc.).
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively.
  • A safety-first attitude and good attention to detail.
  • Relevant trade qualification or apprenticeship in pipe fitting or mechanical maintenance (preferred).
