Job Description:
As an NPI Engineer, you will play a key role in the design and development of products from concept through to production. This position involves creating accurate 3D and 2D designs, performing detailed analysis using hand calculations and FEA software, and ensuring the highest quality standards across all design activities.
The NPI Engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve product designs, manufacturing processes, and performance outcomes. You’ll also be responsible for writing technical reports, developing test fixtures, and validating prototype designs through testing.
This role involves close communication with project managers, customers, and suppliers, ensuring all engineering work aligns with timelines and specifications. As the NPI Engineer, you will take ownership of your projects, sometimes stepping into a lead engineer position, overseeing design reviews, resource allocation, and project updates.
The ideal NPI Engineer will be proficient in SolidWorks, experienced with FEA tools such as Hexagon Marc/Mentat, and confident working on glass, glazing, or metallic structures. Experience in adhesive bonding processes or a willingness to work towards a European Adhesives Specialist qualification is an advantage.
Skills & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline (essential).
- Proven engineering aptitude with strong analytical and mathematical problem-solving ability.
- Proficient in SolidWorks or similar and familiar with FEA tools.
- Experience in design and development of glass, glazing or metallic framing products (advantageous).
- Understanding of materials properties and glass behaviour (highly desirable).
