Job Title: Multi-Skilled Maintenance Technician Location: Birtley Area Salary: £45,488.26

Working Hours: 2-shift pattern:
  • Days: 7:00am – 3:30pm (5 shifts)
  • Nights: 9:00pm – 7:00am (4 shifts)

Job Description:

We are looking for a capable and adaptable Multi-Skilled Maintenance Technician to join a busy engineering team within a thriving manufacturing environment.

This is a hands-on role with a strong focus on CNC machinery and press equipment, where you will be instrumental in maximising machine reliability, reducing downtime, and improving overall operational efficiency.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on CNC machines and press equipment
  • Diagnosing electrical and mechanical faults and implementing effective repairs
  • Supporting production teams to resolve breakdowns quickly and safely
  • Assisting with installation, commissioning, and relocation of machinery
  • Maintaining accurate maintenance records and documentation
  • Contributing to continuous improvement and root cause analysis activities
  • Ensuring all work is completed in line with health & safety standards
Skills & experience:
  • Proven experience in a multi-skilled maintenance role within manufacturing
  • Strong knowledge of CNC machinery and press systems
  • Electrical and mechanical fault-finding expertise
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and schematics
  • PLC fault-finding experience preferred
  • Proactive problem-solving approach with excellent attention to detail
  • Relevant engineering qualifications (HNC/HND, City & Guilds, or equivalent)
Desirable:
  • Hydraulic and pneumatic systems experience
  • Lean manufacturing / continuous improvement knowledge
  • Background in a high-volume production environment
