Working Hours:
- Full-time, permanent position
- Average of 38.5 hours per week
- Continental shift pattern: 4 days on / 4 days off
- Rotating day and night shifts:
- Days: 6:00am – 6:00pm
- Nights: 6:00pm – 6:00am
Job Description:
As a Maintenance Technician, you will be part of a skilled engineering team, reporting to the Engineering & Facilities Manager. Your role will be to provide effective maintenance support across all site equipment, ensuring optimal performance and minimal downtime.
Key responsibilities include:
- Maintaining extrusion and thermoforming machinery to optimum operating standards
- Responding to machine breakdowns, diagnosing faults, and implementing effective repairs
- Supporting and contributing to the planned preventative maintenance programme
- Identifying root causes of recurring issues and implementing corrective actions
- Prioritising workload in line with engineering guidelines and business needs
- Liaising with engineering stores to ensure critical spare parts are available
- Supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the site
Skills & Experience:
- Multiskilled maintenance engineer with a strong electrical bias (approximately 60% electrical / 40% mechanical)
- Completed a recognised apprenticeship or formal City & Guilds qualification
- Up-to-date knowledge of relevant electrical regulations
- Proven fault-finding and diagnostic capability
- Experience working with PLCs and control panels
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work on own initiative
- Good IT skills, attention to detail, and physical fitness
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team
