Salary: £37,600 per annum DOE
Shifts: Monday to Friday, 07:30–16:00 (with overtime opportunities)

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and proactive Mechanical Fitter to join the engineering team. This role involves carrying out inspections, maintenance, repairs, and installations of plant equipment across a busy industrial site.

As a Mechanical Fitter, you will play a key role in ensuring plant efficiency, supporting capital projects, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives. You’ll be responsible for fault finding, commissioning, and troubleshooting, as well as following statutory health, safety, and environmental regulations.

Your work will include:

  • Routine maintenance and mechanical repairs on plant equipment
  • Installation, commissioning, and testing of machinery
  • Identifying improvements to maximise plant availability
  • Supporting project work, shutdowns, and upgrades
  • Following permit-to-work and risk assessment procedures
  • Assisting with wider engineering tasks where required

Flexibility is essential, as occasional overtime, weekend shutdowns, or out-of-hours breakdowns may be required.

 

Skills & Experience

  • Recognised mechanical engineering qualifications (CompEx Mechanical desirable)
  • Experience working in hazardous or regulated environments (CoMAH preferable)
  • Strong mechanical fitting and troubleshooting knowledge
  • Ability to read and follow technical documents and maintenance schedules
  • Proactive problem-solving and teamwork skills
  • Commitment to safety and compliance at all times
