Company Overview
We are recruiting for a growing, award winning and innovative manufacturer of mechanical products in their search for a new Mechanical Design Engineer.
As a mechanical design engineer, you will be part of a team of engineers responsible for the design, development, testing and introduction of new products.
You will help to lead the team whilst designing components and systems using SolidWorks and other design tools in a range of materials and considering a wide range of manufacturing processes from aluminium casting to plastic injection moulding.
Job Description
- Solve complex engineering problems using mechanical engineering principles including the definition of materials .
- Use 3D and 2D CAD to generate models and drawings of components and assemblies .
- Use FEA to analyse design performance .
- Create and maintain bills of materials .
- Work with internal and external stakeholders to achieve objectives .
- Create specifications that can be used in the procurement of bought out components .
- Work closely with manufacturing engineers and suppliers to ensure product feasibility .
- Building and testing of prototypes and engineering samples .

Skills & Experience
- Degree in mechanical engineering or experience working in a similar role.
- 3-55+ year ’ s experience in design engineering.
- 3D and 2D CAD software competency (SolidWorks or similar) .
- Experience with a PDM system (SolidWorks, Teamcenter or similar) .
- Understanding and application of GD&T .
- Component and or assembly design .
- Understanding of design for manufacture .
- Practical (hands-on) engineering/mechanical skills .
- FEA/CAE experience.
- Experience of leading or mentoring other engineers.
