Job Description:
The Manufacturing Engineer
is responsible for developing, improving, and optimising manufacturing processes to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective production.
As a Manufacturing Engineer
, you will work closely with production, quality, and maintenance teams to deliver technical solutions and drive measurable improvements across the shop floor.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and enhancing manufacturing processes to improve efficiency, quality, and output
- Supporting production teams with technical problem-solving and structured root cause analysis
- Driving continuous improvement initiatives including Lean, 5S, Kaizen, and waste reduction activities
- Creating and maintaining process documentation, SOPs, and work instructions
- Leading process validation and supporting new product introduction (NPI) activities
- Analysing production performance data such as OEE, scrap rates, and downtime, implementing corrective actions where required
- Supporting tooling design, fixture development, and equipment specification
- Ensuring compliance with health & safety, quality, and regulatory standards
The Manufacturing Engineer will play a key role in delivering improvements in scrap reduction, downtime minimisation, cost savings, and overall equipment effectiveness.
Skills & Experience:
- Degree, HNC or HND in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Production Engineering
- Proven experience within a manufacturing environment (automotive or heavy industry desirable)
- Strong understanding of process optimisation and Lean manufacturing principles
- Experience using CAD software and interpreting technical drawings
- Knowledge of quality tools such as PFMEA, Control Plans, SPC, and 8D
