The business operates multiple sites globally and places a strong emphasis on environmental stewardship, workplace safety, and regulatory compliance.

They are now seeking an experienced Environmental Manager to lead Environmental, Health & Safety initiatives at their UK manufacturing facility. The Environmental Manager will play a key role in driving best practices, improving environmental performance, and developing a proactive safety culture across the site.


Working Hours

Monday to Friday
9:00am – 5:00pm (37.5 hours per week)

Job Description

The Environmental Manager will provide leadership and hands-on support across environmental, health, and safety programs within a manufacturing environment. This position will work closely with site leadership to ensure compliance with UK environmental legislation, maintain ISO systems, and drive continuous improvement in safety and environmental performance.

The Environmental Manager will take responsibility for developing strategies that strengthen environmental compliance, reduce risk, and improve operational safety standards. Key responsibilities include overseeing environmental permits, managing waste and water compliance, supporting environmental reporting, and ensuring the site maintains ISO 14001 standards.

This role also involves leading training initiatives, conducting audits and inspections, investigating incidents, and implementing preventative measures to reduce workplace risk. The successful candidate will help embed a culture of accountability and engagement across the organisation through strong leadership and effective communication.

The position requires regular site presence, close collaboration with operational teams, and the ability to translate complex regulatory requirements into practical processes and procedures.


Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Management, Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline

  • 5–10 years’ experience in Environmental, Health & Safety roles

  • Experience working within manufacturing or industrial environments

  • Strong knowledge of UK environmental regulations including air, waste, and water compliance

  • Experience managing ISO 14001 systems and internal audits

  • Ability to lead incident investigations and implement corrective actions

  • Strong leadership, communication, and training skills

  • Experience developing safety culture and continuous improvement initiatives

  • Health & safety certifications preferred; WAMITAB certification is advantageous

A successful Environmental Manager will demonstrate strong problem-solving skills, the ability to influence across teams, and a passion for improving environmental and safety standards.
