Job Purpose
As an integral part of the maintenance team, you will play a key role in minimising downtime, attending production breakdowns promptly, and carrying out both planned and reactive maintenance. You will support site services operations, contribute to continuous improvement, and ensure plant equipment and electrical systems are operating safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
Maintenance & Repairs
• Carry out electrical and some mechanical maintenance, fault finding, and repairs
• Diagnose faults quickly to reduce unplanned downtime
• Maintain, repair, and install electrical systems, plant, and equipment
• Work on 1ph and 3ph electrical installations
• Test, repair, and replace electrical installations, PLCs, servo drives, and other control systems
• Update and produce electrical circuit diagrams
• Work on presses, CNC machinery, laser equipment (desirable)
Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM)
• Perform preventative maintenance and help establish robust PPM procedures
• Inspect equipment to prevent breakdowns and ensure reliability
• Assist with planning and preparing maintenance action plans
Projects & Improvements
• Contribute to continuous improvement and LEAN initiatives
• Support installations, upgrades, site improvements, and improvement projects
• Suggest technical improvements to enhance equipment performance
Collaboration & Support
• Liaise with other departments to minimise interruptions and maintain production flow
• Support apprentices and junior team members
• Carry out quality & safety inspections on internal and contractor work
Safety & Compliance
• Conduct pre- and post-task risk assessments
• Ensure all work is carried out safely and in accordance with company policies
• Maintain excellent housekeeping standards
• Adhere to PUWER regulations and all relevant H&S requirements
Skills & Experience
Essential
• Time-served in an electrical discipline (Apprentice trained)
• Strong electrical fault-finding experience in a production/manufacturing environment
• Excellent knowledge of 3ph & 1ph electrical installations
• Experience with panel wiring and PUWER
• City & Guilds 2382-22 — 18th Edition
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Good understanding of health & safety policies and procedures
• Ability to plan and organise workload effectively
• Commitment to LEAN principles and continuous improvement
• High attention to detail and excellent work ethic
• Clean UK driving licence
Desirable
• Mechanical maintenance experience
• Experience working with presses, CNC machines, laser machinery, and automatic feeders
• Health & Safety qualifications
• Test & Inspection certification (C&G 2391)
• Experience working with safety circuits
