According to LinkedIn, 122 million people have received an interview through their platform whilst 35 million people were hired by someone who they have connected with on the site. LinkedIn is one of the first places employers go to look for candidates - it is crucial to have the perfect LinkedIn profile, take a look at our tips below…
Add a picture – Ideally a headshot looking into the camera with a smile!
Use a headline – Summarise what you do with any of your key selling points. You only have 120 characters, make sure you use them wisely.
Summary – You have 2,000 words in your summary section but we recommend keeping it snappy and using around 1000. Be sure to include key achievements, qualifications, and examples of anything you are particularly proud of.
CV brought to life – Imagine your profile as a CV brought to life. Take potential employers through your journey from day 1, don’t miss a role out unless you are a contractor and need to condense.
Consistency - Make sure it’s consistent with your CV, employers will check both!
Ask for recommendations – Connect with your old managers or colleagues and ask for recommendations. It is an easy process and makes your profile much stronger!
Featured Post - Write some content about who you are and what you are looking for, make this a ‘featured post’ to ensure that it always stays on your profile.
Be active – Post and comment on a daily basis. Beat the algorithms and get your profile seen!
Check who views your profile - Even with the free account you can see the last five people who have viewed your account, one of them may be your future employer.
Post a video - There is no better way to introduce yourself. Be brave and post a video about who you are and what you are looking for.
