About the company:

I am currently seeking a skilled lathe operator to join my client's team. In this role, you will be responsible for a range of tasks outlined below, while also being open to any other duties as directed by the Operations Lead.

 

The main focus of this position is to become an integral part of the JobShop team, contributing to the creation of top-quality components using both manual and numerically controlled (NC) lathes and equipment.

 

Key Skill Requirements

My client is looking for candidates with the following qualifications and skills:

  • A proven track record as a time-served manual lathe operator.
  • Familiarity with Alpha-Cam or similar basic programming is advantageous, although not mandatory.
  • Technical proficiency in drive system assemblies, including shaft tolerances, keyways, bearings, bushes, and sprockets.
  • Capability in measuring and reverse engineering turned components.
  • Proficiency in using measuring tools such as internal/external micrometers.
  • Problem-solving skills that contribute to effective troubleshooting.
  • A positive attitude and a willingness to share knowledge, including mentoring apprentices.

Planning, Delivery & Output

Your role will encompass various planning, delivery, and output-related tasks:

  • Offer engineering solutions promptly for customer problems and breakdowns.
  • Assist in shaping apprentice training plans.
  • Provide estimated operation times to aid accurate job quoting by the estimation team.
  • Adhere to operation times specified in job cards; communicate early if challenges arise.
  • Be prepared to work overtime during customer breakdowns and planned shutdowns.
  • Identify tooling requirements ahead of upcoming jobs, facilitating timely purchasing.
