Job Title: CNC Machinist – Milling & Drilling

Location: Sheffield Site

Job Type: Permanent, 37.5 hours per week

Salary: £23,081 - £28,839 (depending on skills and experience)

Shift Allowance:

  • £2,470 average for 2 shift working (Mornings/Afternoons) (if applicable and depending on business needs)
  • Up to £3,172 average for 3 shift working (Mornings/Afternoons/Nights) (if applicable and depending on business needs)

Role Summary:

As a CNC Machinist specializing in milling and drilling, you will play a vital role in our production team. Reporting to the Production Manager, you will be responsible for operating CNC machining centers to manufacture parts for existing orders and prototype parts for potential new business.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Demonstrate a sound understanding of both manual and CNC milling, and the ability to interpret and translate engineering drawings.
  • Adhere to Health and Safety requirements, including the correct use of PPE, maintaining workspace cleanliness, and following COSHH guidelines.
  • Operate CNC machining centers to produce high-quality parts in accordance with specifications and customer requirements.
  • Verify conformity of parts using gauges and send first-off parts for CMM measurement, with an understanding of measurement reports.
  • Follow operation and method sheets to ensure efficient and accurate machining processes.
  • Work in compliance with Standard Operating Procedures and maintain a strong understanding of engineering drawings, including geometric tolerancing.
  • Utilize your experience working in an engineering environment to contribute to the success of the team.
  • Programming experience is advantageous, but not required.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work under pressure and meet production deadlines.

Qualifications and Experience:

 

  • Knowledge of Health and Safety requirements, including COSHH and workspace cleanliness.
  • Solid understanding of manual and CNC milling techniques.
  • Experience with deep hole drilling is desirable.
  • Familiarity with Fanuc operating systems is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings and geometric tolerancing.
  • Previous experience in an engineering environment is essential.
  • Slinging, forklift driving (not required for all positions), mobile elevating work platform (not required for all positions), and manual handling skills are beneficial.
