Job Description of a Buyer
The successful candidate will support the Purchasing Team with the procurement of materials to ensure that the company's operational requirements are met, considering the price, value, quality and delivery plus ensuring continuity of supply.
- Input, control, and issue material purchase orders to fulfil necessary material requirements
- Vendor scheduling ensuring materials are pro-actively expedited and delivered to meet scheduled order requirements
- Administrative handling of material items
- Ensure minimum material stock levels are maintained to prevent stock overage or obsolescence
- Report on vendor performances
- Ensure purchasing procedures and practices are continually maintained and improved upon
- Analyse market trends and apply knowledge to help make decisions
Skills & experience of a Buyer
- Experience within the Manufacturing industry.
- 2+ years’ experience within Purchasing or a similar role.
- Strong relationship building skills.
- MS Office experience.
- MRP / ERP experience.
