Estimator – Jarrow – Up to £35,000

We are excited to be working on an exclusive basis for a secure, established marine engineering business who support a range of sectors globally. They are currently recruiting for a new Cost Engineer/Estimator due to growth in the business.

 

The role will provide estimates for all types of fabrication work and vessels from specifications and drawings, while evaluating the commercial value and technical compliance of subcontractor quotations.

 

Salary of a Cost Engineer/Estimator

 

Up to £35,000

 

Job Description of a Cost Engineer/Estimator

 

  • Producing cost estimates against the customers specification.
  • Evaluation of customer's specification and drawings.
  • Analysis of competitive quotations for selection of sub-contractors at bid stage.
  • Compilation of material take-off from specifications and drawings.
  • Utilisation of Excel estimating system for producing estimates and tender documentation.
  • Production of tender cost summary and bid approval sheets.
  • Production of tender documentation compliant with the contract requirements.
  • Negotiation and agreement of contract variations with the client, suppliers and sub contractors.
  • Agreement with the project manager for suppliers of material and sub contract service.
  • Fully responsible for familiarising with the site HSEQ documentation, systems and procedures relevant to their area.

 

Skills & experience of a Cost Engineer/Estimator

 

  • Experienced fabrication estimator capable of producing detailed cost estimates including heavy marine industrial structures.
  • Background in heavy industry and/or marine environments.
  • Knowledge of welding, plating, assembly and testing of structures.
  • Be flexible and have the ability to travel if needed to prospective clients
  • Commercial awareness.
  • Confident personality with excellent communication to represent the company in a professional manner to customer’s clients and contractors.
