Position – Toolmaker (Press)  

Location – Newton Aycliffe   

Annual Salary – £41k-£48k (Inclusive of shift allowance)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct effective maintenance and repairs to prevent indirect cost depreciation of tools.
  • Ensure all work is completed within specified timescales according to production/customer requirements.
  • Evaluate repairs to determine whether they can be conducted in Press or if removal to Toolroom for essential maintenance is necessary.
  • Communicate efficiently with team members, shift leaders, facility maintenance, and press operations to resolve issues promptly.
  • Estimate job completion time and develop a repair plan for seamless execution across shifts.
  • Generate accurate and detailed work reports.

 

Skills & Experience:

  • Apprentice trained with an engineering qualification.
  • Strong understanding of and adherence to Health and Safety protocols in the workplace.
  • Previous experience operating machinery and equipment in an engineering-based role.
  • Proficient in fault finding within an engineering context.
  • Demonstrated verbal evaluation skills.
  • Proficiency in numerical calculation and mechanical comprehension.
  • Tacit knowledge/experience in Press Tool Dismantling and Assembly, mechanical problem-solving, and working to high tolerances.
  • Desirable experience in Transfer and/or Progression Tooling.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Effective listening and communication skills.
  • Strong decision-making abilities.
  • Prioritization of Safety in all work circumstances.
  • Completed a 4-year Toolmaking or related Apprenticeship.
  • Possession of an ONC/HNC in Mechanical Engineering discipline at Level 3.
