Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced Quality Manager to lead the quality team at our client’s Consett site. As a Quality Manager, you will be responsible for implementing and maintaining quality systems, promoting a culture of continuous improvement, and ensuring compliance with industry standards. This role offers a fantastic opportunity for a skilled Quality Manager to drive operational excellence in a highly regulated industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the quality team to ensure the effective implementation of quality systems and procedures.

  • Drive a Quality Culture throughout the organization, developing skills and knowledge across operational teams.

  • Set up and manage quality performance metrics, ensuring continuous improvement and compliance.

  • Ensure timely resolution of internal and external quality concerns through structured problem-solving approaches.

  • Apply advanced quality tools and lean principles, including 8D, DMAIC, 5Why, and SPC, to drive improvements.

  • Support New Product Introduction (NPI) and major industrial change projects through APQP processes.

  • Oversee audits and ensure compliance with AS9100, ISO9001, and other relevant standards.

  • Lead and develop the quality inspection teams to meet operational demands.

  • Act as the primary liaison with external bodies regarding quality system approvals and compliance.

  • Identify skills gaps within the quality team and implement appropriate training programs.

Skills & Experience:

  • Proven experience as a Quality Manager in a highly regulated industry (preferably Aerospace).

  • Strong understanding of international quality management standards (AS9100, ISO9001).

  • Ability to read and interpret technical documentation, drawings, and specifications.

  • Experience in special processes (heat treatment, chemical processing, welding, NDT) and process qualification.

  • Familiarity with ERP systems and manufacturing engineering processes.

  • Expertise in problem-solving methodologies such as 8D, Ishikawa, and DMAIC.

  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with experience managing cross-functional teams.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong analytical and IT skills.
