Mechanically Biased Maintenance Engineer Role

Salary Circa: £38,600 PA + 2 bonuses (OTE £40,000)
Day Shift: Monday to Friday

The Position:

We are seeking a Multiskilled, Mechanically Biased Maintenance Engineer for a permanent role within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will have strong mechanical fault-finding skills and experience with various industrial systems and machinery. You will need to be proactive, capable of handling multiple daily challenges, and keen to contribute to improvements in machine efficiency and reliability.


Skills & Requirements:

  • Time-served – Full Mechanical Apprenticeship (ideally with some electrical exposure)
  • Proven experience in a high-demanding manufacturing environment
  • Strong mechanical fault-finding and problem-solving ability
  • PPM experience with mechanical systems (hydraulics, pneumatics, conveyors, gearboxes, etc.)
  • Welding and fabrication skills (desirable)
  • Familiarity with maintenance documentation and reporting
  • PC literate
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles
  • Able to read and work from mechanical drawings
  • Experience working on and delivering improvement or installation projects

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a wide range of mechanical equipment, ensuring operations meet health and safety standards
  • Diagnose root causes of mechanical breakdowns and implement long-term solutions
  • Respond to mechanical failures promptly and complete all required maintenance documentation
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to support project work and improve reliability
  • Provide mechanical training to operators, technicians, and support staff where needed
  • Monitor equipment performance to identify and implement process and design improvements
  • Use mechanical diagnostic tools for in-depth fault analysis
  • Ensure spare parts availability by following stores procedure and identifying critical mechanical components
  • Develop, implement, and maintain Preventative Maintenance routines for all mechanical assets
  • Take a proactive approach in reducing downtime and increasing equipment efficiency
