Job Description:
- Provide strong leadership to your team, inspiring high performance and ensuring all tasks are completed to the required standards and in accordance with company guidelines.
- Communicate operational expectations clearly and consistently, ensuring staff understand and follow organisational policies and procedures.
- Promote a culture focused on Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery and People (SQCDP) throughout all daily activities.
- Develop, maintain and embed effective Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) across the department.
- Facilitate daily SQCDP cell meetings to review progress, highlight priorities and address any issues.
- Take a proactive approach to managing attendance, performance concerns and any disciplinary matters.
- Ensure operations fully comply with health & safety requirements, quality standards and overall site targets.
- Record, report and contain any incidents or accidents, ensuring corrective actions are implemented promptly.
- Support the Operations Manager in achieving departmental and wider business objectives.
- Offer clear guidance, coaching and regular feedback to team members, ensuring expectations are understood.
- Recognise underperformance early and address it through structured improvement plans.
- Identify training requirements within the team and ensure development needs are met.
- Respond quickly to faults, taking action to mitigate issues and prevent recurrence.
- Monitor, understand and contribute to improvements in Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) across the site.
- Ensure thorough and constructive shift handovers, capturing all relevant updates and outstanding issues.
- Champion and uphold 5S standards to maintain an organised and efficient working environment.
- Work safely at all times and adhere to the British Engines Group Health, Safety & Environmental Policy.
- Perform any additional duties that may reasonably be required to support operational needs.
Skills and Requirements:
- Strong CNC machining knowledge. You must have an understanding Axis CNC machines and their capabilities
- Strong communicator and proactive in fixing potential issues.
- Experience of working in a subcontract manufacturing environment and manufacturing components for various industries (aerospace, oil and gas, nuclear, defence) is desirable
- Managing training plans and overtime requests
